This legislation was brought in to address the low rate of compliance by Northern Ireland (NI) Heavy Goods Vehicle Operators, and the statutory function of the Department in relation to the Act is exercised by the Transport Regulation Unit (TRU) and its partners”. TRU Cornerstones of legislation are fair competition, safety for all road users and the environment.
